Notice is hereby given that the Shxwhá:y Village has called a Nomination Meeting at 4:00 PM on 12th February, 2022, in accordance  with the Shxwhá:y Village Custom Election Rules (2011), for the purpose of eligible Electors nominating one (1) candidates for the Office of Councillor (Chilliwack), to be elected in the next Election with an Advance Poll on 19th March and a Regular Poll on 26th March, 2022.

NOTICE OF NOMINATION MEETING

Dear Shxwhá:y members,

Notice is hereby given that a meeting of the Eligible Electors of the Shxwhá:y Village will be held at Shxwhá:y Band Hall, 44680 Schweyey Road, Chilliwack, B.C. for the purpose of Eligible Electors nominating candidates for the positions of one (1)Chilliwack Councillor.

PLEASE NOTE that any Eligible voter present, may propose or second the nomination of any duly qualified person to serve as Councillor. Anyone so nominated does not have to be present at the nomination meeting but must fulfil the following requirements:

  1. Be an eligible voter;
  2. Nominees for the Chilliwack, Councillor position must be eligible voters residing in those respective communities.
  3. All candidates nominated must provide proof of a clear criminal record for a period of at least five years prior to the election date; consisting of providing the Electoral Officer a current Criminal Record Check that is dated no earlier than 1st Sep, 2021, and presented to the Electoral Officer before the close of the Nomination Meeting. This must be provided for each of the countries that the candidate resided in within the previous five years.
  4. All candidates must provide proof that they are not using any illegal substances. Proof shall consist of the results from a Urine Drug Screen, testing for illegal substances conducted by a reputable testing firm (list below) dated no earlier than four weeks before the nomination meeting and no later than the close of the Nomination Meeting, confirming that the candidate is not using illegal substances. Urine Testing facilities are available at the following locations:
